Have Heart World Tour …

I love Have Heart. Those dudes just left today for Japan. I wish them good luck and safe travels. They have a pretty busy schedule. Check out what B9 had to say.

Have Heart is still touring in support of their LP “The Things We Carry” which came out in August of 2006. This winter, Have Heart said “we want to tour more starting in May.” The results are:

1) May – The guys are hitting Japan,
2) June – then flying to the USA, doing some shows in California,
3) then flying to pickup some shows with Madball and Terror,
4) then flying over to Europe to play Pressure Festival.
5) July – Then after a short break, they head out to California to play the Sound & Fury Festival,
6) August – then tour back across the USA with Death Before Dishonor and Rise & Fall before
7) August & September – flying back to Europe to destroy everyone on their tour with Bane and Ceremony.
8) November – After that, they’re going to South America.

Now that’s a busy schedule. Maybe Pete will bring me back some ltd JP merch. We’ll see.

***Palehorse Touring Europe & Amongst The Flock gets more praise***

Palehorse has been destroying kids nightly since the release of Amongst the Flock last November and they’re currently in the middle of their first tour to Europe. If you’re overseas, check out www.bridge9.com/shows for the latest show information. People are still discovering Amongst the Flock, and Metal Edge recently said that the record is “…Pensive, original, and heavy are three words that best describe Palehorse’s experimental hardcore album Amongst The Flock. With hasty vocals that revel in the essence of punk and an imulsive, hardcore rhythm, Palehorse generates an interestingly intense genre of their own. Moreover, Amongst The Flock has plenty of catchy breakdowns. Even if you aren’t a fan of either of these genres, you can appreciate (if not enjoy) Amongst The Flock’s appealing, innovative aura.” It just keeps coming.

***Ruiner Prepare To Be Let Down information & Tour Announced***

Baltimore’s ugly spawn, Ruiner, is getting ready to release their debut LP Prepare To Be Let Down on June 19th. Following their record release show on June 16th in Maryland, they’re embarking on a full US and European tour that doesn’t end until October. For detailed show information, go to www.bridge9.com/shows. The European tour announcement will be made very soon, and it will be worth the wait.

***Ceremony Scared People EP coming out July 3rd on Itunes and vinyl***

Ceremony has a touring schedule that is going to cover just about every corner of the US and Europe following the release of their 7″ and Digital release Scared People. This is a six song EP that is just punishing. If you haven’t heard Ceremony yet, they’ve released a demo, a 7″ and a CD/LP on Malfunction Records, and they’re the most brutal, angry, out of control band you’ll see live. This summer, they’ll be touring with Shipwreck and Blacklisted, then hitting Europe with Bane and Have Heart-a few shows are with this little group called the Gorilla Biscuits. The full-length will be coming out in Early 2008, but trust us-this will hold you over.

***Crime In Stereo and Ambitions finishing their B9 Debuts***

Long Island’s Crime In Stereo and Connecticut’s Ambitions are finishing up their Bridge Nine debuts. You’ll have to wait a while for these ones, but it’s going to be the the last part of a great year here at Bridge Nine.

Finally-we here at Bridge Nine would like to say goodbye to the guys who made up a little group called Kill Your Idols. This is a band that B9 had the privilege of working with on the vinyl version of the Kill Your Idols/Good Riddance split 7″ and if you haven’t heard No Gimmicks Needed, or the “Something Started Here” collection that is coming out on CD with Lifeline and vinyl with Get Outta Town Records-you’re missing out. Personally, I’m really sad that I couldn’t make it to their last shows, but without making this longer-Kill Your Idols is going to be missed but they’ll always be remembered.

If you didn’t read anything in there that peaked your interest, you need to get your head checked. Seriously.

It’s been a hot and hectic week already as far as Ebay goes. Here is some stuff I know you slept on.

A Turning Point shirt sold for less than a Stop And Think shirt? How does that happen? And this is coming from a guy who LOVES Stop And Think. Just a little odd.

Ugh, this shirt. So cool and uncool at the same time. Such a toss up.

$1.04. $1.04? $1.04!?!?! How is this even possible? I’ve seen kids spend 100 times this on various shirts. My mind has been blown.

Now I know something is wrong. A How’s Your Edge? shirt sold for 30 times a Cold World shirt. How does that happen? Cool shirt. Michiel Walrave artwork. SUPPORT!

Now here are a few items you can still get if you don’t blow it. Get bidding.

Man, I love crewneck sweatshirts. And Floorpunch. The marriage of two awesome enterprises fir sure.

There are two of these out there. NY Wolfpack! C’mon. Steve Reddy. Equal Vision Records. EVR. Man.

Every GB fan should own one of these. Any deep pocketed or extremely lucky GB fan, that is. I was lucky enough to stumble upon one for cheap. Great record.

This masterpiece was found at the school behind our house by my wife this morning. It’s genius.

Dear, Shania
I don’t mean
to steel your
boy look but
my mom emptyed
my closet and
gave me my
brothers clothes
but I thought
why not have
fun! so I tried
my best to look
like a boy!
From Diane
ps. my new
name is Dylan!

If you can’t see the genius that is this masterpiece, you need to go back to school. This could hang in the Louvre or could have a place of honor next to the Dead See Scrolls. Genius.

Caught In A Trap – Rats Get Fat – No Joke Records 001 – 2007

General statement: More often then naught, I hate when bands send press kits with their releases. Usually what happens is that the press kit makes the band out to be the next best thing since Led Zeppelin when in reality, the band is closer to Dread Zeppelin. I then spend most of my time ripping apart the PR rich kits instead of taking the time to sit back and enjoy the music. I can’t help it. The press kit is the first thing I get to see or read. And they are almost always awful. Shamefully, I think that is how this review is going to go.

First, the music. Pretty decent New York Hardcore. Any fan of Sick Of It All could enjoy this album. Actually, I see it as a natural sequel to Just Look Around with a lit H2O GO! vibe tossed in. If I didn’t know any better, I would have just assumed it was a SOIA release. It’s that familiar.

But here is where the press kit kills me. Fuck, I hate press kits.

[NYHC attitude] appeared to be on its death bed when eyeliner and bleeding hearts replaced black eyes and raised fists as the hardcore scene began to witness the slow death of NYHC as we once knew it.

Ok, what shows has the PR dude been attending? Or better yet, NOT attending? Lofts in Brooklyn have hardcore shows all the time. I’m sure a show or two will have eyeliner attendees, but I know Iron Age, Cold World, Justice, … plenty of QUALITY hardcore bands have been through there.

In May 2007, New York hardcore will once again rise from its ashes and Queens, NY’s Caught In A Trap is responsible for its resurrection.

Is this serious? Are you serious? Madball still plays shows. Sick Of It All still plays shows. H2O still plays shows. Hell, Agnostic Front, Merauder and Subzero are even playing shows again. How is that a death bed? How is that ashes? Not to knock Caught In A Trap, but how is playing Sick Of It All inspired tracks cause for a resurrection? Even if it produced by Don Fury. Fuck, I hate PR kits.

PR kit aside, this release is definitely for fans of HARD NYHC. If you like Sick Of It All, I can guarantee you will like this album. Word.
