New Feature in The Shirt Database

Click here for your favorite eBay items

I just whipped up a cool little feature for the shirt database. You’ll now see an ebay link at the top of the page. When you click on this link, you will be forwarded to an ebay search site of the current band.

Suppose you are looking at all the Floorpunch shirts. Clicking the ebay logo at the top of the page will shoot you over to an immediate search for Floorpunch gear on ebay. Check out the results here. Now, go dig through those shirt pics and see if you have any luck with ebay.

Let me know what you think. If you guys are into this, maybe I’ll try and add something similar to the swap pages. Peace!

Final Verdict – Reaching For Something Better – 2008

Holy shit, Final Verdict is carrying the torch of mid 90s hardcore. If you miss Groundzero, Holdstrong and 25 Ta Life (wait, you can’t miss them, they are still playing shows), then Final Verdict is for you. This band may as well have stepped out of a time machine from 13-15 years ago. I didn’t know that torch still needed carrying, but these guys are holding it high. I’m not sure if you can kickbox to this band, but you sure could try. If you are ever looking for some heavy mosh in Victoria, British Columbia, just look these dudes up.

One funny note: Austin, the guy who sent me the cd and the vocalist for Final Verdict, must know my review style. In his note to me, he apologized up front for spelling “hyperbole” wrong. Nice!

Defiant Hearts – Arlington – 6131 Records #09 – 2007

Defiant Hearts are from my back yard. Almost literally. How they ended up on 6131 Records out of Huntington Beach, California is a little beyond me. I’m puzzled by it.

Defiant Hearts isn’t forging a new path or breaking new ground, but what they do, they do well. A little melodic hardcore on a snowy morning is just the thing to brighten the spirits. If you had been in my living room, you may have seen me doing a little skank during Old Hosmer. Thankfully, this album isn’t bedroom moshing material or I probably would have spilled my latte. Shit, illy is so fucking good. This album is a little illy, actually. One or two Right Brigade riffs might get you moshing though.

And, I just noticed they are playing with Permanent this week in Boston. Very chill. See you there?

Offsides to Tour this Winter

I got an email earlier from Offsides (CT’s finest). Seems they are leaving on an east coast tour come January. I suggest you all mark these dates in your calendar IN PEN. Eff pencil, these are don’t miss dates. If you recall, I reviewed their demo what seems like a million years ago. Read up and refresh yourself. Or just check my poor review stylee. Whatever is fine by me.

Connecticut’s OFFSIDES offer female-fronted hardcore in the vein of 7 SECONDS or FLOORPUNCH (and perhaps FAST TIMES). The group recently released a split with RIPSHIT on Spicy Soup Productions – you can check out a couple of songs from the release, and some demo tunes on their MySpace page. A friend of Pastepunk will be on tour with the band in January; here’s what the schedule is shaping up as:

React Records Update!

Here’s what Aram has to say:

REACT RECORDS!

Bio:
A label dedicated to positive hardcore and The Straight Edge.

That’s the bottom line but not the whole story: Hardcore has had a huge impact on my life and has introduced me to a worldwide community of like-minded people trying to make a positive change in the world. It’s provided me with an outlet of expression, introduced me to life changing ideas like The Straight Edge and Vegetarianism, and has given me the opportunity to do and see some amazing things. I want others to have that same experience so to me React is more than a label, it’s my way of supporting bands that I feel not only embody the same value system and energy that first attracted me into this scene but who also encourage self reflection and personal growth as a means to changing the world around us.

Can’t just sit back, its time to React!

Here’s the pre-order info

GET THE MOST- CORE VALUES EP

This is the vinyl version of the Get the Most- “Core Values” demo that was released on tape by Work Release/Too Funkee Dawgz in 2005. The record features 4 songs of classic youth crew hardcore in the vein of Instead, Youth of Today, and Chain of Strength and marks the beginning of a band that makes me stage dive and feel more alive every time I’m lucky enough to see them play.

This is a one time only vinyl pressing and is available on three colors:

100 on gold
150 on red
250 on black

If you’re not familiar with Get the Most check them out here:

This Week in Hardcore – Ebay – Mr. Bane Edition

This week I am focusing on Bane gear. Why? Because I like Bane. Duh. But there is more to it than that. I’ve started to notice a trend that I think says a lot about Bane fans/collectors. I’ll conclude with that assessment.

This week I am focusing on Bane gear. Why? Because I like Bane. Duh. But there is more to it than that. I’ve started to notice a trend that I think says a lot about Bane fans/collectors. I’ll conclude with that assessment.

To me, those prices aren’t all over the board. They aren’t random. Here’s how I figure. Bane fans love Bane for their music. They are your average kid. They aren’t Mr. Hardcore Shirt Collector. If they were that guy, the first shirt would have sold for WAY more than $9.50 (smoking gun design with black lettering). It’s limited to a few dozen. And the West Coast 99 tour shirt that is limited to 2 dozen would also have fetched more loot.

The Mr Sparkles shirt price can be attributed more to the logo than the limited supply. Most Bane fans wouldn’t realize that shirt was only sold at a few shows, including an early Hellfest. They have no idea that ONE yellow one even exists (I still need that picture Mr. R). I believe the same can be said for the jacket. The limited nature isn’t what drove the price up. It was driven up by the cool samurai pocket print. That’s my guess.

And the designs with no bids, well, sometimes designs just don’t work on the consumer. In this case, Bane fans passed. Of course, I slept and forgot to bid so if you are holding one of those shirts, hook me up.

Bane fans love Bane. They want to rock a zip hoodie. It hardly matters what color it is. These fans are not your obsessive shirt collector. They aren’t WishingWell fanatics or individuals who care about bootlegs vs. OG prints. I know a few exceptions exist, but as far as stereotyping goes, I think I hit it square on.

If you disagree, hit me up. We’ll discuss. Peace.
