London – March 2006

Ok, you may or may not know this, but last month, Melissa and I hit up London. It’s someplace I’ve always wanted to go, and the sneaker stores are to kill for. Here’s a quick photo shoot of the trip.

My trip began and ended with D*Face. Check the last pic in this blog if you don’t believe me. This particular stencil was outside Neal’s Yard heading towards the Seven Dials. The other stencil was pretty dope too. Too bad I can’t read that language.

This next pic is for Bedard. Outside of Cambden Market was this shop that said it was the “Best Drum N Bass shop” in London. I’m guessing it meant it more than “World Famous Fancy Ray’s Pizza.” Cambden Market and this shop were closing down, so I couldn’t investigate more.

Later that day, we were wondering around looking for some eats. We happened upon this Thai restaurant. We ordered the veg. plate special, and then got 4 entrees, a plate of mixed appetizers and soup. It was so much food, I almost blew up. However, directly across the street (and right next to a VEG restaurant. Melissa wanted to sit, so we didn’t eat there.) was this sign.

Walking around London was pretty chill. At times it was getting cold. Here’s a pic of me in a scarf. Melissa snapped it as a joke while I was putting my jacket on UNDER my sweatshirt. It’s a little goofy. Dope UC shirt.

In between adventures in shoe shopping, we even managed to hit up some tourist spots. This is me propping up a lion in Trafalgar Square. Notice that it took a ninja to complete such a task.

Like I was saying. This trip was all about sneakers. Walking down Oxford St almost gave me heart murmurs. Seriously. I have never seen so many sneaker joints in such a short distance. We probably hit 20 shops in just one day. Hell, there are TWO JD Sports within 3 blocks of each other. Here are a few shoe wall pics for your enjoyment from the worlds largest Foot Locker.

Sales rack loaded with Sertigs (3 colors, high and low), Baltoros, Goadomes, …

Two different colourways of the Terra Humaras, and catch that Air Max 95, it’s going down.

In America, you are lucky if the store carries ANY air max 95s. In London, you have your choice from 6 different colourways AND a 20% discount.

At one point, we wandered around the Dials looking for this graff installation. It was supposed to be around the Neal’s Yard building. For some reason, we couldn’t find it. We wandered and wandered, but we were coming up empty. Finally, after a few too many colas, I was forced to track down a men’s room. I recalled there was a public facility in the Neal’s Yard building, so we went in there. After relieving myself, I was sitting in the little courtyard coffee joint when I noticed the posts on the inside of the building were all marked up. Yeap, that was the graffiti installation. Not bad, really. But nothing amazing.

And like any Beatles fan, I needed to wander by this address. I didn’t pick up any fancy suits on this street afterwards.

We saw plenty of other stuff, and took more pics, but these are the ones that most people would be remotely interested in. On our way out of the country, and after getting frisked 3 times, I saw this sticker.

Peace.
