Gene has much to say, read on and enjoy.
Since our last update much has happened. Plans have changed, re-changed, and then changed once again when we thought the a changin' was a done.
First, what we're gonna be doing:
- We are playing a bunch of shows on the east coast in the coming months. We are playing with lots of great bands like: Cloak/Dagger, Pulling Teeth, Police & Thieves, War Hungry and a bunch more.
-We are all living in the same country for the first time in over a year(within 30 miles of each other!). We've been split between three countries and two continents for a while so this is a refreshing change of pace(... but the honeymoon might be over pretty soon!!!). Which means we'll be playing more local shows and we'll be writing more new songs. We'll also be enjoying recreational activities such as visiting amusement parks, swimming holes, haunted houses, and ice creameries. You can join us if you'd like.
- We have some new t shirt designs. We are in the process of getting a webstore thing-a-ma-jig together so ordering is easier. We finally have a new shipment in of some old designs as well so we'll be catching up on the lingering mail orders.
- In winter we will be going down to Florida for TIFY fest. Billy is one of the greatest guys alive. He's always helped us out and if you fuck with him he'll run you over with a lawnmower. Join us in the parking lot so we can play frisbee. Then come inside and jump up and down and pass each other around when the bands play.
Second what we've done did:
- We successfully made it back to Canada without incident for Break North fest, a show at End Hits in Ottawa, and another one at Adrift Skate Park/Shop in Toronto. We also successfully ate lots of poutine and assorted night-foods such as lo mein with peanut butter and .99 pizza.
These shows were all great and we hope to cross the border more frequently now that the "hate-Canada" period of L.O.J. is over.
- We visited the south once again for some gigs in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. 108, Killing Time, and Uppercut were all really good, it was fun to get to play with them again. We picked up some homeless hippies and went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico with them and their two ferrets. We gathered the following important facts from our exchanges with these people and their pets: firstly, "Ferrets are spiritual animals," second, it is apparent that ferrets enjoy dancing to music at outdoor festivals such as the Bonaroo festival that is held yearly on a large farm in rural Tennessee.
The end of this eventful trip saw us play three shows in one 24 hour stretch, starting at 3:30 AM in Gainesville, FL. We then played Chatanooga, TN and Nashville, TN. A synopsis: Waffle House, Drowning Pool, transsexual prostitutes, double-decker bikes, coke can bowls, tasers, wolverine claws, sno-balls, stuffed animal crowd participation, lost keys.
- We flew out to California for the Sound and Fury music festival in Ventura, California. We played lots of shows up and down the coast, ate lots of burritos, went to many thrift stores, and enjoyed being transported in the infamous Lights Out van. Hanging out in Tijuana and being greeted by our old friends Zippy and Rene and our new pals Mito and Veronica (who flew all the way from Monterrey) was a special treat.
- Finally, we apparently broke up on eBay for a while, but we didn't know it. We had our unofficial last show in the Lonfellow House in Washington, DC with no one in attendance. Our reunion show at the Black Cat last night was pretty cool, it brought back so many distant not-so-distant memories. RaZZ Money of Wilkes-Barre, PA graced us with his presence for a special guest appearance in the crowd. "Robusk" A. Norton photographed it for a centerfold in Hit Parader.
What we didn't do:
- We did not tour Europe with 108. We love them and wish we could have joined them but logistically it wasn't meant to be.
- We have not finished our 3 song 7" but we p-p-promise we will, real soon. I swear.
- We didn't do our tour with Cloak/Dagger because it didn't really get booked. They do rule, and we are playing some shows with them, so check out their new record.
